Undergraduate degrees

A degree in Mathematical Sciences from the University of Liverpool is a highly regarded qualification which will open many doors for you. In addition to pure and applied mathematicians and statisticians, our staff includes internationally renowned groups in theoretical physics and financial mathematics, so that we can offer a wide range of quality programmes and options to match your ambitions.

A degree of choice

You will be taught by internationally known experts in a friendly department which offers great academic and personal support.

As well as straight Mathematics, we offer programmes in Theoretical Physics and Mathematical Physics; in Mathematics with Finance and Actuarial Mathematics; and in Mathematics and Statistics. You can also combine Mathematics with subjects offered by other departments, including Computer Science, Economics, Languages, Philosophy, Music Technology, and Ocean and Climate Sciences.

Most of our programmes offer the opportunity to spend a year abroad. To find out more, contact our global opportunities advisor, Dr Alena Haddley.

Preparing for your future

Our programmes will equip you with the mathematical and professional skills which top employers and academic institutions expect.

They are accredited by the relevant professional bodies: the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications; the Institute of Physics; the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries; and the Royal Statistical Society. Students in Actuarial Mathematics and Mathematics with Finance who do sufficiently well in their exams can obtain exemptions from professional examinations normally taken after graduation.

If you’re interested in a career in teaching, you can take advantage of the opportunities offered by our outreach team.
